  • Strawberries flowering...

Hi, I grow stawberries in a large ceramic tower/pot and had quite a lot at the start of the summer. I was out watering them yesterday when I saw that one of them has new flowers on it. Should this be happening at this time of year? Should I let it happen or pinch them out?

    Thanks

Mine did this last year. I let them get on with it but ended up with not ripening fruit late in the year when I went to cover with fleece. It is probably prudent to pinch them out so the plants can get on with being dormant for the winter.

Not an expert though so other grapes may think differently.

I have had a few on mine too. Best to pinch out, sort out runners and encourage them to settle in for the winter with a nice haircut (dead leaves).

Not meaning to pinch your thread though urban gardener... I have never seen so many plants in the garden throwing off some of their spring flowers...magnolia, rhododendron to name just a couple. Our strawberries appear to be just as confused!

My plum tree and one of my apple tree has flowers on them as well.
