  • I've Got One, I've Got One!!

Received a letter today offering me a plot at my local lottie site about 3 minutes walk away. I'm sooo excited. They have been developing the site and sorting out better access for the last few weeks, and I have been passing every day and dreaming about when I might be offered something. I was told a while ago that there were a few people in front of me so wasn't expecting to hear anything for a good while.Have emailed back and said a huge YES and hopefully will be able to visit "my plot" early next week.
"Plot 4", doesn't it sound WONDERFUL!!

Thanks guys. Just been for walk up onto the hills that overlook tho Lotties and it looks as if the plots have been cleared, could see lots of bare earth. I suppose that means it has been rotavated. Guess I will have to see what that means as far as the weeds go, but at least its all cleared and ready to go. The plot measures 249 sq metres which sounds huge to me. Just have to be patient and wait till I get to visit.

Wow, that sounds fab. I thought mine was HUGE, but its only 125 sq metres. Sallym, I'm only down the road (M20) from you, if you ever fancy a bit of a seed swap or a dig fest let me know. I got my lottie in June and although I dug out 5 beds straight away, I'm still getting the rest of it under control. I'd be more than happy to pop over and give you a hand with the digging

I think you may still have to dig it over & remove the Cooch grass/bind weed roots If you don't these weeds will reappear & even more so as the rotovator will have chopped the roots cooch grass can grow back from a piece of root 2" long.
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

Well done on getting your lottie! I only got mine at the beginning of May and for the last two months have barely had to buy any vegetables at all - it's been truly amazing! My hubby laughed at first when I said I was getting a lottie, then two fellow allotment holders told me there was no way that I would be able to grow anything in the first year. Mine is 270 square metres and I thought that seemed HUGE. I've got used to it now though, and have recently started on the 2nd half of it, preparing beds for fruit bushes and trees for next year. Just one step at a time and you'll soon wonder how you ever managed without it, and how you ever thought it seemed big!

                        Best of luck!

Congratulations. I have had my plot almost a year and its been great I'm not sure what the size is but it's a half plot it seemed huge but now I want another as its not big enough to grow everything I want, so have put OH's name down for another plot.
Good luck with it take it one step at a time.
