Five years of wanting hens, 8 weeks of waiting for an egg.
Today we started the mamouth task of moving a dog kennel about 12 metres to where it can become a henhouse with huge run and space for a couple more hens.
My 9yo's hen Emerald, crowed loads, faffed around a lot then lay a masive double yoker!!!!! My husband who was grumbling about chook curries is now much more positive. They'll be even more spoiled now!

I've had two this week and was beginning to wonder whether one of the chooks was going to lay a double yolker every second day!
