  • Frogs and Toads

    Hi

I want to encourage frogs and toads to my plot, can anyone tell me if this is at all possible without digging a pond.

I only have half a plot.

    Thank you

Is there a pond anywhere near you? When I took over my allotment and trying to clear all the waist high weeds and rubbish we found frogs and toads. The toads were living in holes in the side of the allotment path and the frogs were in the dampest part of the allotment in the long grass. So for mating and laying eggs they must have been going somewhere nearby.
    best wishes

Frogs and Toads (i believe) only really need ponds to mate and spawn in.

A stack of rotting logs in a shady corner will make a good frog/toad hall.

It dosen't have to be a big pond something about 2 feet square will do we used an old children's sand pit.
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.
