I'm planning on turning my hand to veg gardening this year but have some concerns.

My plot is a field in the middle of nowhere that is riddled with bank voles and such.

Although I'm planning raised beds covered in fleece (very windy here) should I be concerned about the rodents eating my crops ?

Any ideas as to what eats what ?

    Cheers

Bank voles eat buds, leaves fruit and some insects according to the BBC:

BBC - Science & Nature - Wildfacts - Bank vole

      Hope that helps

You'll probably find they'll eat pea and bean seed if you sow it directly - better to sow these inside and grow on in a cold frame before transplanting.

I have found over the last 3 years that if its at all easier than hunting for it, the little bounders will have it away. I now sow almost everything into pots and wait till they are established before planting out.
It staggers me how there are any left when I find half chewed bits of hundreds of them all over my area courtesy of my cats, and yet still they munch my plants!!
Hopefully they wont be too bad for you though, I'm just grumpy about the little rascals.
