    Dear All,

I've bought a pot of living oregano from the garden centre and wondered if anyone had any experience of propagating it? i'd like to put some on my allotment and some in the garden. It's not very big, so don't know if just splitting it will do?

    thanks very much.

You could try splitting it or you could plant it and let it flower and set seed. I have had Marjoram in the past, which is the same family and it self seeded it' self all over the place.

I have one in the garden which has grown very rapidly, I hacked off a chunk for my Mum last year and hers is growing fine too.

I've grown in from seed and split it, both of which have worked well.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I think you can split them, you know pull them with their roots. They're very resilient, unkillable and can take over.

If you have a nice woody bit on your new plant just rip it off dip in rooting powder and off you go. Good luck
