Pinching out Sweet Basil

Hi folks
Quick question for any herb growers out there. I have a large quantity of sweet genovese basil sown from seed and it is now being potted on from plugs into 3" pots. My question is at what stage is it best to start pinching out the growing tips to bush the plants out. At the mo they are about 4" tall and single stemmed.
