  • Is my seed any good

I am planting a lot of my herbs today and notice that a lot are dated 6/2015, i know still just in date but i do have fresher seeds of most. So do not really want to waste time and space trying to see if these ones will take. But if they are good i will save the other seed for a later date. All have not been opened

    Growing;

    Dill,
    Rosemary,
    Thyme,
    Basil,
    parsley,
    Oregano,
    Mint,
    Coriander,
    and different chives

I know onion seed doesn't last long so i am assuming chives will be similar

Any help or advice is always greatly appreciated

    Thanks

No reason why they shouldn't be OK unless they've got damp, overheated etc.

If they are unopened and still in their foil packets personally don't think you will have any trouble at all.
For the rosemary though, I'd buy a plant. It will be along time and effort to get a rosemary plant from seed up and running enough to harvest from it.

I'd expect the seed to be fine however I would hold off sowing for a couple of months as it's much less hassle then with increased warmth and light levels.

In the meantime you can check if they're OK by doing a viability test on damp kitchen roll.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
