Default holy green basil it's small !

Hi, I'm new to the forums and have a question.
I sowed some holy green basil on the 20th April and so far it has only grown about 1 centimetre high, is this normal ? is it a very slow growing herb ?
thanks.

Hi BlackSummer. Wow that does seem slow, I've not grown that type of basil but maybe it doesn't like the compost? I can't imagine it should be that small. Why not try sowing some more and see how that goes? I'm sure someone on here will have grown it before.

Welcome to the Vine Blacksummer. Where are you growing the basil - it only grows indoors for me. Maybe in Somerset you can manage outdoors - but that does seem slow. I would plant some more and see what happens.

It needs to be really quite warm. Minimum of 18C is recommended. Plenty of light. South west facing position is ideal.

Hi, thanks for your replies, the holy basil is in the greenhouse, in potting compost, it should have plenty of light there. I have some thai basil next to it which was planted at the same time, in the same compost, which seems to have grown quite well. I'll try planting some more today. Thanks again.
