Never grown a sunflower before so I have no idea whether just over 9ft is tall or not.

SWMBO did a great job of holding the tape.

My sunflower its 7ft 11inch and the tallest in 'my' garden

This was grown from seed by my 9 year old grandson.
It looked doomed when a bird got into the greenhouse and knocked it, plus other plants, over.
It stood outside in a pot right through the wet summer, fed on juice from the wormery, and watered it when it didnt rain (not that often).
It grew to over 9 foot tall when this photo was taten at the end of august.
However, i went away when we had that hot week at the beginning of Sept and when i got back it was parched and never regained its glory.

Sunflower 11 foot 8 inches (to the top of it's crooked neck). For scale I'm about 6'2" in my boots

A piddling 6'11.5". Destroyed by squirrels who jumped from the fence to the top of it, and swung it down to the ground, snapping it almost completely at the base.
