Hi Dobby, what variety was it and did you grow it indoors or outdoors?

It was Marketmore, sown in April, it sprouted within 2 days and was transplanted into the unheated greenhouse on plot 1 in late April! We've had about 30 cucumbers from the one plant, all of which have been delicious, and rather on the bg size!

That beats mine - they averaged about 16". I had so many on each plant I had to bin about 40 this year as they were maturing and going to seed quicker than I could sell them (or eat them myself ) and I love cucumber.

You're all making me really jealous again, I just had 2 outdoor cucumber plants which got a couple of tiny cukes on them then shrivelled up & died!

I can't believe thats a Marketmore cucumber? Are there multiple varieties of that type?

I grew them this year and last and all were no longer than 12" most more like 8". They had good girth (most important apparently ) but not the length. I feel somewhat inadequate now...

Yes, I feel rather cheated too, I had loads of cucumbers, good taste too but my marketmore were quite short and stubby. What's the secret Mr Dobby?

Lol Sue! Weeeeell, I've always said, if you've got it, then flaunt it!!

Just back from the plot now, there's still another 2 cucumbers on the marketmore plant in the greenhouse, one is 16" long and about 2 1/2" in girth, the other about 12" long by about 2" girth, as we've still got the one we picked on Tuesday (Mr D is going to post a piccy of it later), I left them where they are for the time being!

Looks like we are going to have a bit of a cucumber glut in the next few weeks, I'm thinking of making a big batch of either Tzatzikki or a garlic and cucumber dipping sauce, anyone got any recipies?
