    Pretty Red Lettuce

    My first attempt to grow lettuce (Organic Seed /Salad Bowl Red)
    Due to lack of space I have to grow in containers & I'm delighted at this window box result.
    I've heard it said that vegetables aren't very pleasing on the eye
    Even the Titchmarsh said it on a recent programme...complimenting a gardener for 'hiding' the veg...Bah!
    I think this is as pretty as the traditional window boxes of flowers.
    What do you think? Am I biased?

    Not at all biased - I've never understood the 'veg isn't pretty' thing. I'm darn proud of my growing veg and happy to be able to see it! Even proud of my compost bins - OH built them for me!

    I also recall AT in that old garden makeover programme wouldn't put a washing line in the gardens because it was a garden, not a laundry. By that thinking, is a garden just for looking at pretty flowers?
    Life is too short for drama & petty things!
    So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!

      No, not biased at all. Veg can be every bit as attractive as flowers in my opinion. I've seen some lovely potager beds where different colours of the same veg have been arranged in patterns.

          I value the attitude of Geof Hamilton which was to stick some veg into any available space even if among the flowers. I'm not a fan of AT at all. Too smarmy for me I'm afraid. BTW, lovely lettuces and very pretty

            Does look a pretty window box and as a bonus it will taste much nicer than flowers.
