  • Not quite as planned but...

Here's my attempt at traffic light Chilli jam
I used Fatalli for the yellow, green cayenne/khorika for the green and naga for the red. bit of an error with the red as I bottled it too hot and the chilli/pepper bits have risen to the top but it all tastes good.

That one on the right is looking very professional with the flakes held in suspension uniformally, very well done

Wow, they look yummy T8Ter. I made chilli jam with some Dorset Naga...if I said it's got a bit of a kick, that would be the under statement of the year

I'm going to make some apple and chilli jelly this weekend...if I can find a good recipe!

Thanks BB, it was a case of "third time lucky" but I'll know better next time.

Hi GN, yes I bet the Dorset jam has a kick the red one made with Naga Morich certainly does.

Ya know what???....I've got a bag of apples under the kitchen table,a pile of chillies on top of it, and some spare jam jars just like yours.....

yup- your jam looks so superb that I've decided that that's what I'm going to do with them this weekend!!!

Well done- I'm clearly more than impressed!

              Thanks Nicos/Lettucgrow!,
I'm not sure if anyone in my family will eat the red one, it is seriously fierce, but I've got a few friends who like to think they're "chilli heads" so that should be interesting after a few beers

They look cool! What recipe did you follow? I may try one next time around - purple one would look cool too

Hi Chris, it was the Nigella recipe : CHILLI JAM | Recipes | Nigella Lawson: Nigella Lawson’s official site for recipes, books and latest news

Pretty straightforward, but I tried making all three lots in one evening. I didn't allow the red and yellow ones to cool enough before putting in the jars. I wanted to make a purple batch with my purple gusto chillies but couldn't find any purple sweet peppers.

Thanks mate - maybe those chocolate peppers would help retain the colour (or maybe just go a murky brown... *shrug*).

Were those jars just reused? Quite like them

I bought the jars in Kitchens, not cheap but I'll some as presents. I usually give a few friends etc, chilli pickled onions, chilli and tomato chutney (get the theme here) and this year an added bonus of chilli jam.
