Congratulations! I pulled one of mine and it was 5" long and about 3/8" in diameter. I'll try again in 6 months.

They look great, I dont think mine are anywhere near that size yet - but they were very late going in. Well done, hope there are more where they came from?

I pulled a couple to see how they were doing. Much bigger than I expected.

Here's my first ever parsnip (Halflong white gem) planted 18th March, did lose the leaves when I tried to pull it out
Second photo is the builders tub that I'm growing them in.

Great parsnips Carl, Vicki, Alice & Bren, pity there's no section for them in the G.YO. online veg. show, maybe you should all campaign for one.

I took me a while to get our first parsnip out - first time we've grown them. It was 45cm/18 inches long! It gave us 450g for a pie and enough left over for a roast! We were so impressed we're going to grow more next year! And the taste was far better than the supermarket, which is to be expected.

Mine were the best I've ever grown too. Had 2 of them so far but they were long and thick (like me!) I shall use the pre-sprouted and toilet roll middle system again.

Default Parsnips

We've had about 13 from the plot so far this year, and have another 90 odd still growing, methinks we may be ok for them this year!
