Default I can't claim any glory for these little beauties ...

... but they're still nice. Spotted today whilst I was out with the camera taking a walk.

Ah, beautiful, Nick. Did they smell nice?
I got a few strange looks on Saturday, having pulled up in a car park near a bank of primroses, my posterior up in the air, trying to sniff them. They didn't smell of much, but violets would have smelt gorgeous!

No, the strange looks were because you'd split your pants!

I received similar looks when I stopped in Centre Parcs to smell the Gorse.

I don't know whether its the smell of the primrose flowers or the smell of the plant but I can still remember that smell from when I was a kid and could probably identify it in a 'blind smelling'! Always reminds me of wooded areas!

There is a big patch of white violets just where the village churchyard joins the lotties. They are a joy at this time of year.

Tut tut Shortie They are The Common Dog Violet - Viola riviniana. I didn't smell them as I've a bunged up hooter at the moment so wouldn't be able to plus I had a rucksack full of Camera gear, A tripod & spotting scope and a pair of binoculars ... I'm not really a birdwatcher I'm a pervert and was hiding in the bushes

I took this a few moments afterwards ...
