  • Window box at work.

    Hello All,

I have a window out side my window at work, it is at street level in London's West End.
The problem i'm having is that every time i plant it up with flowers or herbs, some late night drunken revelers come along and pull them out and they are never to be seen again!
I was wondering if any one can help me find a solution. Can you suggest a way to make this impossible? Or maybe you know of some prickly/spiky/thorny plants that would be nice in a flower box? Then at least if they manage to pull them out the plant has had its revenge first.

Any idea will be greatly appreciated.

    Chris

If it's a sunny spot, you could put one of the smaller sea hollies (Eryngium) in there. Some of them, like this one growing at RHS Hyde Hall last summer, are seriously prickly. I expect you'd want to raise them from seed though, a windowbox full of grown plants will set you back a fair few quid.

Gorse flowers quite young as well.

I used to work in the west end. Loved it, lucky you! I think I'd just get some serious cactus, those small ones with the big spikes. That should sort them out!
