Default Wellington Boots

Hi
I've got two leaky pairs of wellington's, nice big ones and would like to plant them up rather than chuck them away.
Anyone any ideas of what plants to go for, had a feeling for something drifty but not too trailing.
Sue

A friend of mine cut holes in her old Wellies, filled them with compost and planted Bussie Lizzes through the holes, and very fetching they looked too

Mrs Dobby
Yes, have been collecting lots of odd containers for the "patio" area in front of my shed at the allotment, got galvanized dustbins, amaretto tins, big round red Italian cake tins, wastepaper baskets, the bottom bit of my shredder (gummed up the works with the brilliant idea of shredding jiffy bags...back to doing it by hand) so I thought the Wellie boots would fit right in, love the idea of making holes up the side of the boots for plants to stick out, would look even more bizarre Roitelet!
Now when the compost has rotted down I shall post another thread asking for ideas for what to plant in the oil drum that I found on my allotment.
Sue

There's an old toilet pan lying around somewhere looking for a new home!

Snadger
If only you lived a little nearer to my allotment in Tunbridge Wells, I don't have a car or any shame so would have happily dragged it home on the bus...

We've just put a new loo on the boat, so I now have a dinky little loo for planting. Anyone got any tips for painting, or staining it, so it doesn't look too white?

What they usually do with the white belsen? sinks is mix cement with peat and sand and plaster it all over! When its dry paint it with yoghurt to get the algae growing on it so it looks like old stone!

Probably better painted in psychodelic colours though, do you not think!

That'll get the tongues wagging. We are an old Manse right next to the Church

Thanks for the advice Snadger. Knew about the yoghurt as I've tried it on our stone walls when the new bits were done, but wondered how I would get it to stick to the loo

give it a good scrub first to make sure it's clean then paint with "unibond" adhesive & when it's just tacky to the touch stick the Hypertufa on (1 part coarse sand, 1 part Cement & 1 part "peat" thats gone through 1/2" riddle. LEave to dry & protect it from wind, rain, frost & palgues of locust.

You can also use the polystyrene boxes that fish mongers use & they make a good light weight alpine sink

As per this

Whilst I think the hyfa poopa (sorry Freudian slip) would look the best, if you did want to take up Snadgers paint idea what about "Tile" paint that would stick.
