Default Tulip suicide

I came home from work yesterday to find that 3 of my tulips had committed suicide. From the evidence it appears it must have been assisted. The flower heads look as though they have been sliced off. I am the only one with access to my garden, the surrounding area showed no sign of foxes, cats etc although I do have squirrels. Could something have eaten its way through the stem? The break is just where the stem meets the flower head. Very bizarre. Has this happened to anyone else?

Sorry about your tulips. Could have been the squirrels. I've never known them to do the tulips but but we had one who took the heads off the yellow roses but not other colours. No explanation for you.
