  • sweet peas not looking the greatest

I planted them just before the weather went bad (2 weeks ago) and think the frost had a go unless I didnt do something right. I have lost a couple. The rest look sad. Its been great weather here over the last couple of days plus good rain. what have I done wrong? They came as plug plants. Just look sad.

Pictures would help. If they are tall enough pinch The tops out to encourage side shoots, they flower better.

      How tall is tall enough?

two or three pairs of leaves.

        'Sad' doesn't give many clues.
It could be slug damage. Did they disappear overnight or gradually get weaker?
Have you watered them during the dry spell?
Did you harden them off before planting them out?

I planted mine out last week along with some marigolds. The slugs seem to have visited. They are definitely looking sad now!

Mine are just about finished now. They were all self sown. I am now pulling up the haulms and collecting the seeds from the pods.

Where are you boatsman? Assuming you must be Southern Hemisphere.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Blimey Boatsman have you entered another dimension? Your self sown sweet peas done???
No one on our lotties SP bigger than a foot tall. Mine ok but I'm in Sussex. I used some garden centre manure and compost. on Monty Dons advice! Also have nipped tops out so they are quite bushy. Give them a little Epsom salts.it seems to kick start weary plants. (Maybe check ok first) my roses love it.

sorry I havent got around to photos. The just look like they are struggling some are green and some look like they are just about to give up! Some leaves are skeletons and some like like poor speciums. Hardly grown. Is there a liquid fertiliser I could pop on?
