Default Portuguese flower

Folks, I took this pic of a flower when I visited Cabo Da Rocha just north of Cascais last weekend. Can anyone identify it please? I thought it was a Passion Flower, but obviously flora is not a strong point of mine.

From the leaves it is a succulent of some type - defo not a passion flower, they climb and the flowers are flater and more open with a tripart stamen thingy in the middle.

Shirls has just poked me in the ribs and said I need to give more info... So here it is:
The flower is about 4 inches across, grows on semi arid dry soil on a cliff top. It grows about 3 inches from the ground to the top of the 'petals' and I didn't dare sniff it incase it was choc full of pollen!

Hi Madmax, it's definitely not a passionflower. I think it's a type of ice plant, probably Carpobrotus edulis (Hottentot fig), I found a link to a pic. of one here.

Thanks Sue. I looked the the url you posted but I am seeing a different type of leaf. In my pix, the leaves are similar to small Aloe Vera leaves, the leaves seem very thin in your example - but the bloom is very similar and the growing conditions seem to match - a warm, semi arid climate.

Not being a gardener, still learning with Shirls, I am not too good at this! I just found it an interesting style of plant!
