Having just been given a tub full of Primroses, is it ok to replant them in my flower bed or should I wait until they have flowered then transplant them?
They are the nominate species Primula vulgaris

Hello Benacre, I think the answer to your question depends on what the primroses are in. If they are in an ornamental tub then I would leave them to flower and transplant to the garden later. If they are in a garden centre pack then I would plant them out now.

Ornamental Tub. Any reason why they cannot be moved now, I suppose it is because they are settled?

I'd plant them now, as long as you make sure they don't dry out (unlikely at this time of the year) they should be fine

The only reason I was saying leave them if they were in an ornamental tub was to enjoy the display and maybe not set them back by transplanting them, but if you really want them in the ground you can just do it now.

Probably keep them in tubs and enjoy the display re planting them in Autumn in my flower bed.
