  • Plant ID please ..

    This was inherited from the previous home-owner. It has fruit in late summer/autumn. Does anyone know what it is?

    It looks like a Japonica. Has it got thorns?

      Yes, it does have thorns. Thanks very much for that - 'Japanese Flowering Quince' makes sense as we thought the fruits looked like quince but weren't too sure!

        I would hazard a guess at ornamental quince - are there any old fruits still on the branches?

          You get a better crop from a specially bought edible quince but you can get enough fruits on some of these to make Quince Jelly (or wine!) in a good year.
          Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.
