My Gladioli still had foliage on them, even this late/early in the season. It was starting to aquire a bit of rust though so I decided to dig up the corms with 8" of foliage left on them so they could dry off and be re-planted in April.

I had a good crop of gladdys this year with good strong stems that didn't need staking and was very pleased to find that because I'd left them so long, and allowed the foliage to feed the new corms, they are huge! Some of the new corms are the size of a medim sized onions, maybe 3" diameter. Usually when I dig up my gladdys the new corms, for some reason or other are usually smaller than the original!

Has anyone else had good gladdy corm crops this year I wonder?

I only grew them for the first time ever this year ......have taken all the little cormlets off them and will be growing those in a nursery bed this year...or so one or other of my books tells me to......is that right?

Apparently so.........but I'm an impatient b*gger and will use the old main corms and buy some when they're cheap in the shops. I'll still probably plant the small cormlets in a corner of the lottie........but won't hold my breath as they take quite a few years to grow to flowering size!
