  • Does Borage last overwinter?

I planted some Borage in March but it got eat to bits! I chopped it down but it must have dropped some seeds, these have now come up and some have even flowered! Will they last overwinter and flower next year? or die once the frost comes? I know they are an annual but just wondering because they are hardy if they will last through

Borage does self-seed and come good next year, but it will not last all through the winter - don't worry, it'll be back assuming it throws seeds out

No, if they are annual they will grow, reproduce and die all in the one year

I know...sad isn't it???...my chooks clearly ate all the seeds last year - so I had none at all this year

Sad? I brought in a couple of plants given by a friend about 9 years ago. I still get their great, great etc grandchildren - always in the middle of a bed of something that I've managed to plant neatly for once! I love them but I have to be rutheless and pull up those I don't need.

Thank goodness they are easily controlled, as they self-seed like crazy. I always try to pull them up before they go to seed, bur always miss a few - still, they finish up in the compost bin.

Will dig them up tomorrow! As I'm trying to get back on top of the garden, after letting it get back to its old wild ways
