Default Can someone identify a climbing plant for me?

Hi,

Very quick post as i've got to pop out, but I want to identify this climber I have in my back garden and I figured someone here might be able to help.

I've posted pics on my blog here -
http://thecornflake.blogspot.com/2007/08/unidentified-climber.html

This isn't an attempt to get loads of people to visit my blog by the way, just the easiest way to show the pictures to people. I don't have any adverts on there or anything.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to have a look, I'd really like to know what it is.

Best guess is some sort of climbing rose, desperately in need of cutting down to size. What were the flowers like that came before the berries (hips)?

there doesn't look to be any thorns on it so I'd say Zeperine Droughin pink flowers, good scent

Is it just me or does anyone else think it needs digging up and planting about a foot deeper? I've found with all my roses that they do better if they feel nice and secure. Just thought I would ask. Jan

You'd have a job digging that up Jan! I do think it needs beheading, though. Then training properly. Trouble with climbing roses is if you let them go straight up you end up with long bare stems and all the flowers at the top. If you let the new stems grow up, then train them sideways (using wire or canes if necessary) then you get a lovely mass of flowers.

I've lived there since May, and I've never seen any flowers on it. I don't think it's a rose.

At the bottom of the smaller shoots with leaves on them there are a few soft prickly bits where the shoot joins the branch, otherwise it has no thorns or anything.

Edit: I've been Googling that type of rose and it does seem extremely similar. I'm just wondering why I haven't seen any flowers. I'm thinking it could be that now though. Some pictures of the branches and stems I saw were exactly the same.
