    Hi,

Try this link to 'Plants for a Future Database' for sharon/persimmon fruit

    http://www.pfaf.org/database/plants.php?Diospyros+kaki

apparently they are trees that are OK to -14 C when dormant, but require warmer summers than we generally have, so depends where you live as to how successful, always worth a go though - I have a tamarind seedling that I know I'll never get fruit from, but the leaves are beautiful

i started one off a few months ago. plant it on its side about 1 1/2 cm deep. cover the pot with a peice of glass or put it in a plastic bag. i germinated mine on a well lit windowsill near the aga so it got some heat. its not really growing much at the moment which isnt suprising. its about 4in tall. il go and take a photo of it now.
