Default reluctant rhubarb

I have put in two new rhubarb crowns, both with leaves. One is older (bigger and bushier) than t'other. I gave them both lots of rotted sheep poo and they are in the sun - but not all day. We haven't had any frost lately but both plants seem to have given up! Both have leaves that are turning brown/orange and one leaf has fallen off. Can anyone shed any light on their predicament and how can I save them. I love rhubarb and would be very sad to lose them.......

dont know what the problem is but my third rhubarb plant lost all its leaves over the winter but then grew more come spring (20 degrees plus here today).
I bought some rhubarb seeds the other day ...i know they will take an age to mature but thought it worth trying.....

You could try forcing them for a while. Cover them with a bucket or something like that to see if they come up, but check regulary, and watch out for slugs
