  • Raspberries, loganberries etc in a pot?

Anyone done it? Can it be done? I really like loganberries but I don't want them to spread manically around my garden like these brambles.

    Thanks
    Rachel

Trying to tame the mad thing called a garden and getting there I think!

I've had raspberries in a pot, short term while I was clearing the space they were going in. I don't think I'd keep them there long term though, as they do make quite a big clump eventually.
Loganberries, and even blackberries!, are quite controllable if you put wires up to tie them into, and meticulously prune them at the end of the season

      hi
iam getting some loganberries this year my father grew them for years and they didnt spread just a small clump which he pruned like blackberries every autumn they produce countless berries which were very sharp and needed plenty of sugar great in pies or with icecream

My parents have had loganberries in their garden for almost 50 years. They are growing between a path and a wall and we have not had much trouble with them spreading. If the end of a bramble gets into the ground it will root but if they are tied up they are fine. Fruit is delicious!

Thanks. I think I'm a bit cautious because of the horrendous brambles in our garden! Will wait till greenhouse is done and then decide My mum has some in hers and they're lovely!

I have three raspberries and 1 blackberry in pots - the orange buckets from b & Q to be precise. They seem to be happy enough so far, buds coming out and everything.

There was a thread on here beginning of this year bout growing them in pots and how feasible it is.

            Just found the thread: http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...elp_26064.html

I think you can do what you like...but fruit might become smaller in size. I have the following in pots, and all growing

well....strawberry.....blackberry.....gooseberry......raspberry....I only have a small garden, so putting things in pots allow you to move things around, so as long as they are fed and watered you should not have a problem.
