| a friend has given me 14 bare rooted raspberriy canes i have dug a trench and filled it with good compost and manure and planted them to the depth where they were planted before my questions are 1.can i do anymore to improve the growth 2.has anyone any idea about growing them in warmer climates 3.do i need to stake them/protect them from wind/protect them from too much sun and 4 do i just leave them be or do they need pruning....i have looked on the net for advice but wanted your opinions too cheers tracy |

| The only thing I can add to Jeanied's post is, if you are not sure whether thay are summer or autumn, then do not prune yet until you find out. It won't hurt for their first year.

| They'll be autumn ones then ![]() Have some of them in the back garden and get a very decent crop off them every year.
