    melon plant

    I bought a melon plant today. It has about 6 leaves and is in a 10cm pot at the mo. I have put it into the plastic greenhouse on the top shelf at the back.

    Will it be ok there at night or does it need to some back into the house?

    What size pot ought I to put it in next? Can it go into a washing up bowl?

    Melons love warm, it will need some protection at night, probably best indoors as its small.

    You can probably pot it up big, they're heavy feeders and can grow to be big plants quite quickly.

      Ok so I have just read that I need to bring it inside. If I open the flaps and take it out now (8pm approx) will the cold air damage the other plants in there? I assume the air can't warm up in there overnight and if I let the cold out what will happen?

        Depends whats in there - but if anything is that upset by some cool air then they didn't ought to be in there? I'm not sure what the night temp will be tonight, ours says 7C so thats not too cold.

          Mine has only got down to 5 so far overnight. I have toms, lettuces and brocolli in there, (all decent sized seedlings now) plus spme seeds yet to come up, like peas and lettuce.
