  • Jostaberry in pot?

Has anyone tried this? I know they grow big...but I think a pot's my best bet. If it's realistic, what's the minimum size do you reckon the pot should be? Obviously the bigger the better but as usual space is an issue...
any other jostaberry tips gratefully received. Sorry I can't help with the Great Casseille Question but I want to know the answer!
    Thanks

    BroadRipple,

I was thinking of a jostaberry myself this year so can quote from Dobies catalogue "Ideal for containers on the patio". Looking at the probable size of the plant I am going for a 25ltr container to start with and will increase that should it become necessary.

All I can say is that they are HUGE and floppy. I would not have thought that they were suitable for a pot.

They are far too big for a pot. Even a half barrel would be likely to blow over.

I got mine from a local nursery and they said 2mtr tall and 2mtr spread.

Mines growing in a pot and its doing fine. I planted it last year and I'm getting quite a few berries this year. I think its worth trying

Well I never grown one but the post above is accrurate as to what is said in the catalogue, I have just checked again. Could this be misleading or are there different varieties I don't know. As above I was thinking of one for myself so would be glad of any more info.

              Thanks in advance Colin

I'm not sure what my variety is sorry. At the moment its in a 25l pot but I will probably only be able to pot it up once due to space.

encouraging that you have berries! Thank you for that SW...Colin, sounds like we should give it a try and then be prepared to plant out if necessary, what do you think?
