Default Has anyone grown a peach tree from a stone?

I have been hanging on to a couple of stones from particularly sweet, juicy French peaches.

Has anyone had any success at growing these on? I read that the seed needs to be stratified but don't know whether you need to get at the kernel and sow that or whether the whole stone needs to be stratified and then sown. Thought it will be fun to have a go at growing these.
