Sorry never heard of them - sounds interesting. Perennial i take it from price and 2nd tear fruiting. Does it also taste like a tomato as well as look like one? It has a good name. Does it grow outdoors or green house?
Whoops sorry didn't mean to as so much.

That's why they are charging so much for the juice. It cures death if you believe the blurb!

i cant find them! my mum is a nutritionist n i can definately confirm that goji berries are very very good for you but in moderation as they still contain fruit sugars.

How big do they grow? Tyring to decide how many to buy. Unfortunately the free postage offer seems to be over.

A bare rooted plant is currently £6.49 (or £9.99 for 3 or £19.99 + 6 inc 12 strawberry plants) with T&M at the moment. Thinking about getting one for something different but not decided yet.

I've got 6 bushes on order with T & M but I've been waiting nearly 6 weeks and still not received them. I have chased up but all they keep saying should be in the next 10 days! I have also bought rather a lot of goji seeds (about 450) and have started growing them, so far so good. I wasn't expecting them all to come up but I reckon around 400 have!! Slightly worried I am going run out of window ledges soon! By the time I receive bushes from T&M, I think I will have bushes nearly fully grown!!!! I am a total amateur to growing anything, any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Grow a hedge with them is my advice.... they grow to about 3 metres tall x 400 = 1.2km of goji stems:-)

Hi Crispp007
Same as you for the bush order. Been waiting 5 or 5 weeks. called them and got told they would be here this week. 1 day left then its time to start making a few "demanding" phone calls.

Where did you get the seed?

Very poor service!

Martin

Just received my plants last Friday, they seem to be a fair size and apparantly they are two years old so should get fruit off of them this summer(we'll see!). I got my seeds off of ebay. There is someone on ebay selling 2 year old goji plants for £3.00 each + £3.00 P&P (sounds very cheap to me even though T&M are selling 6 bareroot plants for £20.00). Interesting idea 1.2km of hedge... Just gotta find a field to put them in!! Given how much the dried goji fruit go for (£9.00 for 250grammes in tescos!), I'm very suprised how cheap the plants r? Am i missing something?

Plants grow VERY easily from seed - at least in my experience this year. germination 100%.

Given that the average bush has several hundred (thousand ?) seeds... I think I'll grow a hedge round the garden:-))

Default Getting Goji seeds

I have read that Goji seeds are like rocking horse manure, but If you go to your local asda and buy dried goji berries. Re-hydrate, then squeeze onto a kitchen towel and leave for 2 days you should be able to gather the very small seeds up ( you get about ten per berry ).

sheppo - I was also looking to get my goji plants from T&M. 6 bareroot plus some free strawberry plants for £19.99 - plus I can get some free alstromeria bulbs with the order.

Have you tried the method described and was this with the packet of 100g 'percy dalton's' dehydrated goji berries which asda sell in their fruit and veg section for £1.35?

Otherwise if interested folks can buy around 200 seeds for £2.95 (pp £0.99) from ukgojiberry.co.uk - an organic supplier for those who feel this is important. They also sell a 60g pack for £1.99 (plus pp). I've not dealt with this company as I've only found it today - but prices seem quite good to me. Anyone have any experience of them?

From what I'm reading whilst the bare-root plants give you a head start - once established they propogate like weeds with a high rate of germination from seed.

I got one earlier this year and its growing well. Accidently brushed by it about a month ago and broke off one of the small branches. I then broke it off completely and stuck it down into some soil in a pot. It has grown on from there so its easy to get more bushes this way from thre mother plant.

I ordered 3 plants last year from T&M. I had to chase them all the way up to April this year, a mix up in their system. Anyway, I got them in the end. They're in pots until I know where they're going. A fortnight ago, another 3 turned up. Another mix up in their ordering system. They've kindly let me keep them, no charge.

The second lot have rounder greener leaves than the first which have long thin grey green leaves. A different variety perhaps?

Yes, slugs almost destroyed one of my early ones. I thought it was a gonner but after a few days in a slug free zone it recovered quite nicely.

Now it's ants - at least I think they're the culprit. I noticed a couple of the first lot were looking less lively and some of the leaves were turning yellow. A closer look showed up loads of red ants in the compost. They almost did for a potted echinacea in the same way. Anyway, I've repotted and given them a good drenching. Fingers crossed that'll do the job.

I tried this method last year from berries purchased at holland and barratt and it does work. Mine are about 8 inches high this year and are moving to the lottie when I get time.

They don't taste like tomates abit like a cross between an apricot and a cranberry. But very nice and morish

I have about 6 five year old plants and found that the fruit that falls to ground produce seedling all the time like weeds.

Lots of places sell seeds like Julian Graves for £0.99p a packet or just buy some dried fruit from places like Tesco. Eat the dried fruit and plant the odd one.

I have found that you do not need to freeze the seed before planting.

Very easy to grow.

Taste's like a mix between prunes and fig to me.

Love these little buggers.

I understand that you can have two types, one from Tibet and one from Mongolia. The ones from Mongolia are bitter than the ones from Tibet.
How you tell the difference, who knows, other than taste.

My Goji's are just starting to flower, a bit late this year.

Lots of small flowers are growing, so it looks like another bumper crop.

My neighbour gave me 3 he's grown from seed. They are all in their individual little pots and standing about 8" high. It'll be a year or so before I get anything from them but hey, they were free!
