  • Currant sticks wanted, swapsies?

I'm longing for some red and white currants, trained into smart cordons to help with the glare off the blindingly white render on our cottage. Might anyone have a stick or two to spare? I'd happily pay for postage of course, and I have seeds and cuttings of my own to offer.

    Rooted salvia 'Amistad'
    Rooted nepeta racemosa 'Walkers Low'

Seeds: an embarrassingly overstuffed drawer-full. Just ask.

Auriculas: a few little teeny plant-lets of show fancy, alpines and borders. Seeds from named varieties from W & S Lockyer.

Sorry can't offer you any but I wonder whether this is the best time of year for cuttings. I think the root better as hardwood cuttings in the late autumn. Someone else might know better.

Yes, late autumn is the best time although I have taken cuttings in the spring.

I completely agree but only just thought of it now, so I thought I'd aim low and have a go. Like most I imagine, I've had both great successes with propagating outside the set season and failures when attempting within, so I'm almost always willing to have a try.

              Hello Llamas,
I've got rooted cuttings of white, red and pink currants, various varieties. I don't know how to send PMs but if you're interested, drop me a line and we can sort something out.
