  • help and advice need urgent - site under threat

    Dear all

Its been a while since I posted anything on here, however need help now our site currently a small one is under threat there has been an application to the DCLG for disposal of the statutory allotment land. Section 8 1925 allotments act for all you guys with knowledge.

Of course it is hugely complicated and cannot go into all the detail here, and yes we have involved everyone we can think of.

Would you guys consider a media campaign? To late for newspapers as an early decision has bee requested ie next week.

Should we contact the TV companies, set up face book campaign?

    What would you do?

hi guys thanks for the replies

not sure how much I should say on here, I'm in Croydon and the council have already approved the planning permission for the site and all local councillors have written letters supporting this.

Its all very long winded the application was made on the 18th (I know there should be 3 weeks) but the council have asked for an early decision, Wednesday this week eeekkkkkk

just a question but what notice have you been given to de-statutarise the land? Also is there anything in there about the growing season affecting dates?
Just wondering as our association has had a small section of one site de-statutarised to make a path for the adjacent school to use, and I know there was some very strict rules about timings.

Salome2001 not there seems to be no timing relating to this part of our allotments are currently under utililised and the council claim not to have the funds to bring them back into use and we have to give up some allotments for a project to get the rest back but what they didnt tell us was that it would have to have the statutory status remove to allow the project to go ahead. sneeky I say

Alldigging the rush is to do with the funding of the proposed project/development they waited until the last minute and hoped we wouldnt find out until it was too late.

so i have just finished sending e-mails requesting support (hey it cant hurt, what more can we lose) to our MP. Boris and David Cameron

Dont reckon our chances though, spoke to the planning officer at the DCLG today doesnt look good (although she didnt say that)
