  • Compost bins placed on paving - is this ok?

As the title says really - the area where the compost bins (2 daleks, both 330 litres) are to be placed is paved. The bins will each have a separate base plate.

I don't mind the paving being stained with liquid coming out of the bottom, but will my compost still work? I was advised to try and remove the paving where the bins will sit, but this isn't really an option. So what can I do to help the process along? They will be in shade too, if this is relevant, as I want to save all the sun for my plants

Mine are on slabs as we had a rat problem. Never had a problem making compost. The bins don't have a base themselves.

Same for me. I think it might be a bit slower than if it is in direct contact with soil, but it still works.

Still plenty of worms! Can cope with rats at the allotment but not in the garden.
