    Gained another veg patch

    Well, actually, a walled garden dating back to the 1800's.
    One of the gardens I have been looking after has been offered to me free of charge, so long as I grow veg for the hotel too. But it is mine for doing with as I see fit.
    Well happy as it has a large fig tree, established strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrant, gooseberry, redcurrant and whitecurrant bushes as well as plum, apple, pear and almond trees in another section that are mine to harvest as I see fit.
    It also has two heated greenhouses and a number of cold frames
    The catch - I have to keep it tidy !

    Thats sounds like a very good deal Rat! I assume things are still going well then? What are you putting in peoples boxes at the mo?

      Well done Rat on your new acquisition. As you say, the only trouble is having the time to work on it I'm sure you'll find a way though. It will be nice when you harvest all that fruit and I'm sure that lovely family of yours will enjoy all the produce.

          Oh how I envy anyone with a walled garden - even if it's someone elses! Good luck with it. I'd find the 'tidy' bit hard too!

                The beauty of the walled gardens was that they created micro climates and the walls could grow stuff not normally grown.
                It should surely allow you to grow more varied stuff anyway Rat?

                      Last weeks boxes contained potatoes , carrots, onions (as they do each week) then they had kale, half a cabbage (my cabbages are absolute monsters this year), jerusalem artichokes, leeks and/or parsnips. I also have swedes ready, with PSB and Spring greens still to come. Still have JA's to dig, loads of kale and cabbages, swiss chard, perpetual spinach and winter lettuces.

                        Gonna plant asparagus and globe artichokes for a start - no way would they survive in my field. Other than that I'm not sure at the moment.
