  • Our New Tunnel !!!

    Hello again u Grapes
Just thought we would share this cheap way of keeping those pesky Cabbage Whites off yr brassicas.
Get 6/8 lengths off rainwater downpipe approx 1mt sink them in the ground at least 18inch deep 4 either side (not to wide) then get some plastic gas or the bluewater pipe you should be able to beg this or pay very little cut into 5m lengths and insert each end into the rainwaterpipes to form the arching tunnel. Then ask or beg again at your local scaffolding yard for debris netting which they tend to discard when a site is cleared, stretch over and secure where necessary with cable ties .4 peices of timber for yr door this can be stapled and Hey Presto! a walk in butterfly barrier.
We started the trend at our lottie and they're popping up everywhere.

Dont forget to fix a length of timber inside the top of the arch for stability.

Welcome Noeyes, sounds a good idea. As SBP says, piccy would be good. As my 2 ex wives will confirm, I have no imagination.

            NOEYES

            Great minds think alike.

I have seen the debri netting that you refer to on my visits to sites and have been eyeing some up for my little plot. They are also attaching it to 'Herras' fencing as well on site boundaries, the mesh size is very similar to enviromesh. Some of the larger housing developers have their logos etc running through it which is no good.

link shows what it looks like.
