Default I'm Pregnant!!

Yay!!! Will be 10 weeks on Monday, so early days yet, but got to get planning!!

Not the best timing where the lottie is concerned though We're due on April 7th!! When everything needs sowing!!

Now decided to have the second plot rotivated, not sure I'll be wanting to dig it all over now...... just want to get the ground ready before I get big!!

Any tips or advice? or am I completely mad thinking of doing it with a bubs on the way

Was thinking on trying to concentrate on getting the ground ready from now really. There has been a massive pile of wood chippings left by the council workers next to my plot which I can use for paths maybe....

ooooh and oh got me some plastic to make a make shift greenhouse (makes sense in my head!! )

so it's going to be busy!! Still got over half a plot to dig over on the first!!

Well congratulations.

You'll be all done by next season so it'll be fine and do the digging before you bet huge!. But two plots! I also fear for your makeshift greenhouse. Is it UV resistant plastic and is the framework going to stand up to winter winds. Either buy a polytunnel or look in the paper and usually there are ads for free, or nearly, greenhouses if you dismantle them.

Hugest congratulations to you! It's a tricky one, figuring out the best time in the gardening year to have a baby; do you have the baby in spring, when everything needs sowing and pricking out but you have no time cos you're busy with baby or pooped anyway, or maybe summer, which means no time for planting out and it means you have to do all your pricking out (I'm thinking, standing for long periods of time) when you're big, or how about late summer/autumn, when everything needs harvesting and preserving? It's a puzzler! Anyway, looks like you're beyond making THAT decision!

As Madmax says, watch out for the poo, and no heavy lifting!
Take care of yourself, and keep us posted!

Many congratulations. Hope all the gardening (and the getting big) goes well for you. You should be back to yourself (tired but able to bend again) by the time gardening proper kicks in next year and the baby will do well with all the fresh air. Not sure about having 2 plots though!!

Congratulations Chrissie. Don't worry you don't need to wrap yourself up in cottonwool. Just take reasonable care and don't overtire yourself. Carry on with your normal life as far as possible, do whatever you feel comfortable with. When I had my first babe I was still riding pillion on a motorbike until my bump got too big for us to fit on the seat (around 7 and a half months).

Don't tell everyone our secrets!! There's nothing wrong with you that could possibly have been caused by being carried around on a motorbike. Possible inherited nuttiness, yes, but that's in the genes, together with forgetfulness.

Congratulations Chrissie! As has already been mentioned, time to get yourself a Directors chair and place it strategically on the lottie and direct others on how to do the work! Go easy with the whip though!

Many congratulations Chrissy. Being pregnant is the best excuse I know to ask people to do any amount of heavy work for you!

Shirls was still driving our (well - mine!) MG Midget when she was 9 months pregnant... Needed a shoehorn to get her in and a crane to get her out.

Here I am SeaSprout!

Congrats Chrissie!

You're not mad to want to keep on working on the lottie, and as long as you take it easier, I personally think a bit of LIGHT work on the lottie is good as it keep you supply, fit and out in the fresh air.

I suffered Symphasis Pubis Dysfunction [sp] where the 3 pelvic bones knock together during both pregnancies which frustratingly stopped me from doing anything really gardening wise, unless I did it sitting on a low stool with my knees together (which is very difficult when you've got a huge bump infront of you too! ). Otherwise I would have been doing tonnes more than I did

Hope everything goes well, and if you do decide to keep going on the lottie, don't push yourself too hard, remember you're body will be working hard enough already making a new little person

Congratulations......My advice is to grow loads of butternut squashes, they will be ripe just as you need to wean your baby and babies LOVE butternut puree. One of the nicest things about growing your own veg is when you can start your babies off on it. You know that there are no pesticides etc and the vitamin content is so much higher from not sitting around on a supermarket shelf! Other good veg to grow for weaning is swedes, carrots and tomatoes. Best to plan a low maintenance plot as babies are very time consuming (in such a lovely way).
