| This is one reason that some allotment sites are now banning carpet. I had the same problem, but also with a lot of rotting roofing felt and corrugated plastic to boot. As I have no car, I had to cut it/smash it with Stanley knife and hammer into smaller pieces and take it away in carrier bags. Then dropped it in street bins ![]() It took a while to get rid of all of it, but little and often will do it, as with anything.

| I've been getting it off bit by bit, but it covers about half the plot! plus there's underlay, plastic and sometimes even concrete slabs hiding underneath the weedy carpet! I need a machete or similar to cut it off, I tried with a swiss knife with no much luck I did think of a bonfire but was wondering about chemicals contaminating the soil? Plus, of course, the toxic smog as Two Sheds said... |
