  • Garlic - can I plant out?

Hi. My first attempt at garlic.
I planted cloves in 3 inch pots about 10 days ago and left in unheated greenhouse. They have grown much faster than I expected and are now about 3-4 inches high with roots showing through the bottom of the pots. Should I move to bigger pots or plant out in allotment bed. I'm on south coast so mildish but the soil is wet. Thanks ks

Garlic is hardy and needs a bit of cold to split into cloves. As it has been inside for 10 days get it used to the elements by putting it outside during the day and bringing it in at night, hardening off. Then if the soil is not too wet plant it in the ground. If it is then you have no alternative but to re pot onto larger pots and then get it in the ground as soon as possible.
