Default Dealing with manure

I had a load (not sure how much a 'load' is in weight, but it filled the back of a medium-size tipper truck) of composted manure delivered to my allotment at Easter. I have since been using it to fill some newly-built raised beds, and spread it on top of the open soil area of the plot, which I had recently rotovated & weeded.

Yes, I KNOW I should have done all this in the autumn, but there we go - I am operating on a better late than never policy here. The soil on the plot is very dry and chalky, so there's very little nutriment in there otherwise.

However, I know have a lot of very 'cloddy' stuff sitting on top of both the raised beds and the open soil. Should I rotovate again to 'dig it in'? should I add topsoil?
Any thoughts?

What you have Daddy Pig is a wonderful soil enhancing, water retaining, weed abating mulch!
I have done the same and planted my tatties and other veg through it!

Looks like good stuff DaddyPig. The worms will take it down into the soil, and you can plant potatoes etc straight through it.

How does the man who drives the snow plough get to work ..... theres a thought for you

It will break down and the worms will dig it in for you. If you want to sow seed then just rake it off and scatter it somehwere else.

Thanks everyone - that's all reassuring, and makes me feel better about the bad back I've got after shifting all the stuff!
