Advice please Should i remove the lower sideshoots from my broad beans? One old timer told me that they should be removed, whilst another told me to leave them. Which one is right?

I've never removed any of mine and they've been fine but no idea if that's the correct approach.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be? -
No need to remove the side shoots, they may produce flowers and more beans.Comment

Leave them alone, they will produce more flowers and beans (if they don't get attacked by the dreaded blackfly)Comment

Beans have already been attacked by bean weevil.Comment

Often happens, but I don't find it really does the plant much harm. Bean Weavil damage is unsightly but the plant still usually produces a good crop. I leave the side shoots on too, by the way!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

I agree they do fine once they are going but bean weevil can do fatal damage to seedlings. Difficult to do anything about though....little critters!Comment
