  • Allotment as charity?

Someone at the fed meeting put forward the idea of turning their allotment into a charity.

    Does it make any sense?

Charities with turnover less than 5k don't need to be registered.

More paperwork - but possibly apply for funding more easily.

You have to have charitable aims - does an allotment only for it's members serve any charitable purpose?

This is one that looks nice! Just become charity this year - it is more than just an allotment site though.

I am sure you could come up with something that could show a charitable purpose along the line of a community scheme, healthy living/well being. Which is a large part of an allotment site does already. Not sure how this would help raising funds though.
