3 Top Tips To Spruce Up Your Pergola

By Emily Peagram
08th May 2017

With lighter nights and longer days, it’s time to enjoy your garden to the max. A pergola offers a perfect outdoor space for alfresco living and this summer it’s easier than ever to make yours stand out with these top tips from Grange Fencing.

1) Paint it pretty
Sometimes all it takes to refresh your garden is a lick of paint! Choose on trend colours or neutral hues to tie in with the natural landscape. For a fresh, modern look think dove greys and Cornish creams or go for rustic reds and traditional greens for a subtle approach to using colour outdoors. Whether you decide to paint the whole pergola or add simple accents of colour and accessorise accordingly, it’s time to bring a dash of personality to the garden this summer!

2) Flower power
Boost your style and your senses by using your pergola to showcase aromatic floral displays. Sweet-smelling climbers such as Honeysuckle or Clematis add a touch of romance to any garden and take brilliantly well to climbing timber structures such as trellises, arches and pergolas. For a more minimalist look opt for a slatted structure, such as Grange’s Urban Pergola – you can use the frame to hang contemporary potted plants and succulents. This ultra-clean look is great for smaller spaces and provides versatile, vertical growing space for those with patios and balconies.

3) Light up the night
For garden gatherings that go on into the night, create a magical scene by stringing fairy lights across the top of your pergola or add scented candles for an intimate feel – far more sophisticated than relying on the bright lights of your automatic security sensor! Likewise, a few well-placed solar panel light sources offer an eco-friendly alternative and are ideal for gardens without an obvious route to a power socket. However you choose to light up your pergola, it’s easy to create a cosy outdoor space in which to relax after dark.

Alongside the Urban Pergola, Grange offers a wide range of contemporary timber garden structures, including arches, arbours, pergolas and gazebos. For further information and garden inspiration, visit grangefen.co.uk
