Water lily I.D and care advice (picks included)

The first one is a waterlily of some sort but the second is a Water Hyacinth, e.g. Water Hyacinth - Floating Pond Plants - GardenSite.co.uk

I'm taking the top picture to be number one and that's the water hyacinth along with picture three. Water lilies have flat leaves which rest on the surface of the water. Think of good old Jeremy Fisher sitting on the lily pads!

The water hyacinth being the bigger one of the two plants in pick one? Do you know what the smaller floating plant to the left of it is?

If you mean the tiny plants, it's duckweed. Nightmare stuff. Fish out as much as you can with a net.

In the first pic, the smaller plant to the left of the water hyacinth is water lettuce. Both plants are tender and will not survive the frost. They are also fairly invasive and will spread like mad in warm conditions....i grow a few in my tropical aquarium.
