    Can anyone identify this Wasp type? They appear to be living like Solitary Bees; single occupancy holes in the ground as we have several openings outside our front door.

      Looks like the one I watched searching along under the sills until it found a spider which it duffed up and dragged into a hole, presumably to feed to its' young.

        Scoliid wasp.

        Handy to have in a garden. This from Wikipedia: "Scoliid wasps act as important biocontrol agents, as many of the beetles they parasitize are pests".

        We have them here. Apparently they can sting, but they're not in the least bit aggressive. They're among the good guys in my view.
