More Bumblebees around this year?

    More Bumblebees around this year?

    Has anyone else noticed more that the usual amount of bumblebees around this Spring? Is it because it has been warmer than usual, earlier? They have been buzzing around the catkins and apple blossom in my garden and it may be that I'm just noticing them more, but there definately seems to be more than last year? I also noticed more of them when walking my dog in the local park? Is it a regional thing? I live in midlands? Or after the scare of not so many bees etc around are they coming back?
    I love them and it's a treat to watch them pollinating already.

    Yes, there seem to be loads more this Spring where I live in South Wales. During the last few days while it's been so hot they kept flying into the house and I've had to keep rescuing them. I just wondered whether I was getting more here because I have a Damson tree in the garden and it's in full flower (best year yet - it's only 4 years old). The bumbles are all over it - good news for fruit later on!

    But if you're finding a lot around you in the Midlands then that's not the case - perhaps it is because of the hot weather. I love them too.

      Errrm we do have fruit trees in the Midlands you know? LOL In fact I have a rather old Victoria plum tree, that I make jam from and it's this tree that's in blossom, so maybe that's the answer lol

          I have seen more queens out and about this spring than normal

            There has been a lot more activity regarding Bees, this year in the north west

            even with the drop in temps and maybe even colder next week
