    First Bumble Bee

    We saw our first, albeit very slugish, bumble bee of the year today. Kazzi put a bit of honey in front of it which it feasted on for about 10 minutes before takeing to the wing.

    This cold weather is not good for them but at least with the seasons being a bit shot, there seems to be plenty of flowering plants out at the moment for them to get a start with.

    From down south I saw one early part of the week - see hares thread - mad as - that's me!

    Quite amazed they've come out that early - even in this part of the world. But a happy reminder that renewal and spring/summer is well on its way!

      Its a bit late for this year but I will build a couple of bee boxes for the plots and gardens ready for next.

        We get the really huge bumbles all through the winter - the hellebores seem to keep them in food. I'm really fond of them
