    Early pollen for the bees etc...!

    I know it's only February, but we desperately needed to cut our lawns as they were over 8" high already
    so....all the early daisies and dandelions in the lawn have been left for now-we really do need to do our bit for wildlife with this unseasonal weather!

    Just wanted to remind everyone as it's so easy to go into autopilot when cutting the lawns.

    I'm presuming I'm not the only one with daisies and dandelions in flower????

    You may be the only one who's cutting their lawns in February!
    My grass (can't call it lawn) is full of crocus, snowdrops, daffs and bluebells still to come. May should be right for me.

      My neighbours have cut their lawns but I won't be doing mine anytime soon. The bumbles here at the moment are going bonkers over the winter honeysuckle and my honey bee are working dead nettles, crocuses, snowdrops and winter heathers - I am still to work out a couple of others. Some of my fruit trees aren't far from flowering. Nothing seems fussed with the daisies

        My hellebores and daffs are the attraction in my garden at the moment - my snowdrops are just going over.

            VC is spot on with flowers like dandelions - there's usually plenty of pollen sources for bees in the early Spring from catkins etc, but nectar bearing flowers are often in very short supply.
